Lima, the Capital of the Peruvian Republic, is located between the Andes and the Pacific Ocean.
Since pre- Hispanic times, it has been the site of important cultural complexes.
The city was founded by Francisco Pizarro on January 18th, 1535, and reached its splendor in the XVII and XVIII centuries, when it became the site of political and military power represented by the Spanish Viceroy.
At present, Lima is a big and cosmopolitan city with about 7 million inhabitants.
It has beautiful colonial constructions and permits an easy access to the different tourist attractions of the country.

                and the Archbishop's Palaces, Inquisition Museum, the Torre Tagle Palace and
                the Monastery of San Francisco.

                Guided tour from Lima along the Panamericana highway (19 miles south) to the
                Pachacamac Archeological Complex, the most important pre-Hispanic religious
                center of the Pacific Coast. Visit to the reconstructed Temples of the Sun and
                the Moon (Inca Period).

                Visit to the Archeological Museum that contains the art and history of
                pre-Hispanic cultures up to the Inca Empire.
                19 miles south of Lima, drive along the coast to the Pachacamac Archeological
                Complex, the most important pre-Hispanic religious center of the Pacific Coast.

                Guided tour to the splendid gold an jewelry private collection from pre-Inca
                cultures, especially the Mochica, Chimú and Nazca cultures. The museum also
                contains an interesting collection of arms, dating from the XVI century
                onwards.

                Guided tour of two of the most important museums of Lima: National Museum,
                where one can appreciate a remarkable collection of textiles and ceramics
                among other objects of the pre-Hispanic cultures. Afterwards, visit to the
                Larco Herrera Museum, with its private collection of ceramics, especially from
                the Mochica culture, and a Treasure Hall containing gold and silver pieces such
                as the complete golden stomacher of a Chimú Chief.
