Lima,
the Capital of the Peruvian Republic, is located between the Andes and
the Pacific Ocean.
Since pre- Hispanic times, it has been the site of important cultural
complexes. The city was founded by Francisco Pizarro on January 18th,
1535, and reached its splendor in the XVII and XVIII centuries, when it
became the site of political and military power represented by the Spanish
Viceroy.
At present, Lima is a big and cosmopolitan city with about 7 million inhabitants.
It has beautiful colonial constructions and permits an easy access to
the different tourist attractions of the country.
